OPI Damone Roberts 1968 Nail Polish

Good afternoon, Dear Reader!

I got a surprise today - the OPI Damone Roberts 1968 polish I'd pre-ordered last week arrived.  I ordered it by calling the Beverly Hills Damone Roberts - that's the only place to order it.

The first thing I did was compare it to a few other green cremes to see how it looked.  I think this one's unique - it's not as minty as the others we've seen this year.  Here is the comparison swatch, left to right: Sephora by OPI Read My Palm, OPI Damone Roberts 1968, Barry M Mint Green, and Revlon Minted, three coats each.

The verdict is that it's different and I love it.  I promptly did a manicure with it.

Now I'll happily go about the rest of the day with my new manicure.  That's it for today, Dear Reader.  Until tomorrow, love and nail polish to you!

Hot Topic Fauxnad & Konad Plate M63

Good evening, Dear Reader!

My OPI Shrek nail polishes arrived today, but I'm just not up for swatching, so I figured I'd show them to you one at a time as Nails of the Day.  In the meantime, I thought I'd show you yesterday and today's Nails of the Day so they don't get lost in the shuffle because I especially like them.

Yesterday was Nubar Black with Hot Pink accent ring fingers, and I used two patterns from a Hot Topic fauxnad plate on them.

Today, I've worn OPI's Jade is the New Black with some of the old black added to it from Konad plates M63 and M19.  I used three coats of the OPI.

I thought that one turned out really nicely.

Now that I've caught you up on recent NOTD's, I'll be wearing OPI Shrek colors for the next six days to show you those.  Until tomorrow, Dear Reader, love and nail polish to you!

Nicole by OPI Nail Polish, Part II

Good morning, Dear Reader!

I have the rest of the new-to-me Nicole by OPI's to show you today. My light wasn't as good as yesterday's, but it was sufficient. I used a different number of coats for the different shades, so I'll tell you about each as we look at the color.

First up is Violet Vibe, which is not new, but is noteworthy because it's also a hard to find OPI color. Just get the Nicole! It's a light pinkish purple shimmer. I don't have the OPI here to compare the two versions, but I looked up pictures of OPI Violet Vibe and it looks like this is just a dupe of the OPI. Now, we know OPI's not perfect at duping their own colors, but it's an attempt at a dupe and looks close enough. This is three coats.

Next, I have some new-ish, Christmas colors. Bah Plum-Bug! is a deep plum with a slight shimmer in the bottle which does not show up on the nail. It took three coats, and someone should be jailed for its name.

To it, I added two coats of Twinkle of Sprinkle,a clear base with silver and holo hex glitter that's a dupe for OPI's Disco Ball Sparkle. Truthfully, I forgot it was a dupe for Disco Ball Sparkle when I got it, but I love hex glitters so it work outs alright.

Last is Faux Fir, a slightly bluish green shimmer. It only required two coats, and was the one I chose to wear for the last day. I really like it. Unfortunately, my Orly Nail Rescue had degraded again by this time in swatching... Sorry about that!

Now you've seen all my new Nicole by OPI nail polishes. I got these from AveYou.com with a 20% off code and $1 shipping. I've ordered from them a few times in the last several years and only had one problem order, and they took care of it, so I can say I believe they're safe to order from. RetailMeNot.com usually has their current codes listed.

That's what I have for you for now, Dear Reader. Please throw your name in the hat for a bottle of Orly Iron Butterfly is you have not yet, and until next time, love and nail polish to you!

Nicole by OPI Nail Polish, Part I

Good morning, Dear Reader!

Yesterday I got some new (to me) Nicole by OPI nail polishes, and I thought I'd give you a peek at them. I think the colors, at least three of the four I have here, are new, but what do I know... I just know I haven't seen them before.

They all took three coats and weren't quite as opaque as I'd like, and of course I have to deduct points for that dreadful Nicole by OPI Bottle. The colors are nice though, and three of the four here have a really cool shimmer - kind of foily with little tiny flaky bits in them.

Make Mine Lime is a lime green with the cool finish.

Diva into the Pool is a teal with the same finish.

Sky's the Limit is an interesting blue, kind of like a cornflower blue, also with the same finish.

The last one, You're Blue-tiful, is about the same color as Sky's the Limit, only a standard shimmer.

As I write this, I see more points need to be deducted for the names - some are pretty bad!

I like them overall. The colors are work working around the awkward bottle, and the brush and application were good.

That's what I have for you this morning, Dear Reader. Don't forget to enter to win a bottle of Orly Iron Butterfly.

Until next time, love and nail polish to you!

Nicole Black to the Future

Good afternoon, Dear Reader!

This day has largely been about my mom, and being Irish, there's a celebratory element to mourning that I've participated in today.  At my mom's wake, everyone was telling all their funny stories about her, and there was lots of laughter.  My mom was *all about* a good sale (you could pick any item in my parents' home and she could tell you the original price and what she paid) as well as doing whatever the hell she wanted to do, regardless of what anyone thought.  So today I went over to Ulta for their clearance sale (Mom would be so proud!) and got some good sale things as well as a few things not on sale that were too cool to pass up (she'd forgive me...), then came home and played with one just because I felt like it.  This is one of the "too cool to pass up" items, Nicole by OPI's Black to the Future.  It took four coats to get it totally opaque, but it was worth it!

So that's the happier part of my day today - clearance shopping and doing what I felt like doing just because I felt like it.  Good stuff!

That's all for today, Dear Reader!  Love and nail polish to you!
