Revlon Sweet Tart & Mon Cherry

Good Morning, Dear Reader!

I have a couple of Revlon manicures to show you this morning. I was recently asked if Revlon is Big 3 Free - here's what I found: the label explicitly states no toluene or formaldehyde, I don't dee formaldehyde resin in the ingredients, not can I indentify any phthalates. That comes with the caveat that I'm no chemist, so phthalates could be slipped by me, but I felt okay enough with what I read on the label to keep using them.

Last night after swatching, I pulled out one I've been meaning to use that came from the same nail polish display that held No Shrinking Violet called Sweet Tart. It's a really nice almost-hot-pink creme. The only down side was that it took four coats to be even - it was opaque in three, but still streaky, and the fourth evened it out. I have some fun decals I ran into near the bottle of nail polish, and went nuts with those while I was at it. I didn't do the best job of sealing them, so I lost a bit of one in the shower this morning before I took pictures of the mani.

Since I figured losing bits of decals all day would drive me crazy, I changed it. I used Revlong Mon Cherry, which I've showed you before - that's one of the scented Fruitful Temptations line, the red one. It looked nice and classic when I finihsed, but after having a bunch of decals all over, it looked a bit plain, so I took the Konad to it, using plate M59 on most of my fingers and M4 on my ring finger with Konad White Special Nail Polish.

Coraline Konad Set II

Good morning, Dear Reader!

My WowSoCool order arrived last night, and all I could say was ,"Wow, so cool!!!" I got the Coraline Set II I've been coveting since the beginning of time, and a couple more Konad Special Nail Polishes (just black & white). I should have taken a picture of the Coraline set for you, but I was so excited I tore right into it!

This morning I played with it. I started out with a base of two coats of Nubar Oh Baby Pink, partly because it's one of my favorite pinks, partly because with Diamont I can stamp it in three minutes (I tested that time with a Zoya, but Zoyas just plain take longer to dry). The I got to play with the Coraline Konad!

I chose a tip pattern, on of many, from plate CO6, and a fun little accent from plate CO3. I did the tips in the blue polish and the accent in Psyche Pink. One extra cool thing about this set is it comes with full-sized versions of those polishes - I'm over halfway through the minis Set I had. Better yet, the bottles are ornate! Take a peek at Psyche Pink.

Then here's the Coraline Konadicure I did with them.

Fun, huh? I'd wager I'll be playing with this set for a good part of the day today.

Then there's yesterday's KOTD, which I didn't show you. Yesterday I played with a scented Revlon. I was stressed and having my nails smell like candy helped! I used Pretty in Papaya, and did my tips with a polka dot pattern from a plate I cannot remember the number of. Here she is.

You may have noticed my last two posts don't have the clickable to full sized pictures. That's temporary - it take a lot of code to do that, and I've been to tired to do them when I have a few the last two days. I promise I'll resume the usual pics in the next post.

More Revlon Fruitful Temptations & Konad

Good evening, Dear Reader!


I've been playing with more scented Revlon nail polish, and I have pictures for you!  I really love these, so the only way to show the ones I've swatched to you is in alphabetical order.  They're three coats with a base and top coat in natural light.


Coconut Crush looks like Mother of Pearl to me.  I love this one, and it smells like a bag of sweetened coconut.








Then it got a little decoration with Konad plate M71.

Mad About Mango is aptly named, and really does smell like a fresh mango.

Mad About Mango cried out for Konad plate M40.

Finally, Sublime Strawberry is just that, and it smells just like Frankenberry cereal.  Look at the sparkle it has in the sun!

Sublime Strawberry needed a little something from Konad plates M71 and M55.

I like these so much that I did my first review on Total Beauty about them :D.

Revlon Fruitful Temptations, Mon Cherry

I was bound and determined to leave my Not So Blue-Berry Konadicure for today, but I simply couldn't resist playing with another scented Revlon this morning.  They're just too much fun!


Today's manicure, a Konadicure, looks more Valentine's Day than Easter, but it's consistent with the name of today's base nail polish, Mon Cherry.  I started with three coats of Mon Cherry, which, like Not So Blue-Berry, brings me right back to the late '70s.  I didn't take a picture of Mon Cherry by itself (it's just a red creme), but I'll tell you the story of what it smells like that makes it special (skip to the pics if you don't care!).


When my sister, who's less than a year older than I am, and I were kids, we went to grade school about two miles from home.  From when we were 8 & 9 on, our dad would give us bus fare every morning for us get home, $0.50.  The problem was that there was a penny candy store between us and the bus stop, and almost every day, we'd stop there and blow our bus fare on candy and then walk the two miles home.  Mon Cherry smells just like the red jelly penny coin candies (which were actually $0.01 each then), the smell of which permeated the candy store.  So wearing this, even though it's just another red creme, makes me think happy thoughts of being 8 and walking home with my sister while we ate our little bags of candy.  I can't quit sniffing it!


So that's why Mon Cherry is a special red creme nail polish.  To make the manicure a little more fun, I added a polka dot tip pattern to it from Konad plate M45 using Pastel Pink Konad Special Nail Polish, and then added a fun little pattern from plate M71 to my ring finger using Konad White Special Nail Polish.  Here's the finished Konadicure, again in the spectacular sun on the balcony.






It's a fun one, I think!  As I said, more Valentine's Day than Easter, but I just couldn't resist.

Revlon Fruitful Temptations, Not So Blue-Berry

I did a little work, got a little wound up, and I thought I could use a fun mani to unwind. What could be more fun than scented sparkly blue nail polish, I ask you? Not much, that's what!


I found the Revlon Fruitful Temptations display recently, and snagged the one and only Not So Blue-Berry on it and one other. Truthfully, this one is so much fun I might have to go back for more. It applied nicely, completely opaque and even in three easy coats, is stunning & sparkly, and I smell distinctly of Boo-Berry cereal. More importantly, it's suddenly 1977 again, when my mom would spend many weekends away on business and my dad would be left to take care of my sister and me - he'd give us all the sugar cereal and junk food that were normally had to live without! This nail polish smells just like Boo-Berry, and brings back fun memories.

It could hardly be called a fun and relaxing mani without a little Konad, so I added a lacy white tip from Konad plate M62 to this one. Coffeebug, this is the result of lining up the stamp for the center line on the nail, then rolling the image onto the nail from on side to the other. This is another thing I've found Nubar's Diamont to be useful for - I had to redo a couple of the stamps a few times because they were off center, and when I have topped the base color with Diamont, I'm able to wipe off the Konad polish with acetone-soaked felt without disturbing the base nail polish at all. That's a handy little benefit! Here's the Not So Blue-Berry Konadicure, also in sunlight.
